Hibernate mode is also slightly safer, in that a power failure or running the battery completely down won't cause you to lose any work. Tasks that are scheduled but are not set to awaken the computer do not run. When asleep it will only run tasks that have been set to Awake the computer. When you turn the computer back on, all your apps and windows are restored just as if you had put it to sleep, but without the constant drain on the battery that sleep mode imposes. When a computer awakes it does not rerun the startup folder - it only runs the tasks scheduled and then goes back to sleep. All the same system settings are saved to a file on your computer's hard drive or SSD - which requires no power to maintain - and then the computer is shut down completely. If you're using a laptop, there's still a small drain on the battery to maintain RAM, but your entire desktop is restored almost instantly when you wake it up again. When you select it at shutdown, the current state of your computer (including all running apps, open windows, and temporary settings) is saved in RAM and your computer goes into a low-power mode. You may already be familiar with sleep mode. Even so, hibernation is a useful feature, so you may want to enable it in Windows 11 and routinely use it to shut down your PC. Windows, and your system are both on but running in a very low power state. In the list of options, click on Hardware and devices. In the new window, click View all on the left pane. Type Troubleshooting without quotes and click on Troubleshooting. Your files are dumped to the memory so that you don’t lose any work. Press Windows Logo Key+X then click on Search screen. In the sleep state, everything is suspended. If this doesn't work, then something else may be slowing the computer at startup.Microsoft has been de-emphasizing the hibernation mode in Windows for years, perhaps to reduce confusion with the very similar sleep mode, which is available in the shutdown options. Hibernate is different from a complete system shut down but it’s also different from the sleep state. Enable Hybrid Mode on Windows 10 PC Go to Start > Settings > System. Another window will appear, titled "Power Options." In this window, click on "Choose what the power buttons do" in the left column, and in the next window that pops up look for the line reading "Turn on fast startup" under the section titled "Shutdown settings." Remove the check from that line and click "Save Changes." In the window that pops up, click on "Additional power settings" on the far right. To disable this feature in Windows 10, right-click over the Start icon and select "Power Options" from the menu that appears. Disabling it often speeds up a system's wake time from Sleep or Hibernation Mode as well, though it can slow your awakening from Shutdown and Restart some. This is a setting that helps quicken startups from a Shutdown state, though it sometimes has an opposite effect when enabled with Sleep and Hibernation Modes. Yet another option is to disable the Windows Fast Startup feature. Keeping the machine in Sleep or Hibernation Mode constantly puts a lot of strain on your RAM, which is used to store session information while your system sleeps restarting clears that information and makes that RAM available again, which in turn allows the system to run more smoothly and speedier. Similarly, it couldn't hurt to restart the computer now and then, especially if you haven't done so in a while.
